CLASS CLOSED
Do you have wisdom to share with the world – about how you survived an illness, healed from heartbreak or abuse, became a better step-parent, found love later in life, or otherwise learned, grew and overcame obstacles?
Do you have the kind of story that makes people say, “You should write a book”? If so, this class will give you both the courage and the specific skills to begin.
“Self-help books have helped me enormously,” says instructor Ruth Schwartz. “I actually began reading them as a young child, and they gave me the tools and encouragement I needed at many pivotal points in my life – for instance, after a tough break-up, when I found out my sister was mentally ill, and when I was ready to break some long-standing emotional patterns. That’s why I knew I wanted to write my own.” One Amazon reviewer of Ruth’s brand-new book, “Soul on Earth: A Guide to Living and Loving Your Human Life,” says, “This book has been a real friend to me lately… Since reading it, my life has changed for the better. I have more compassion and empathy for myself and others. My attitude towards what were insurmountable problems in the past are gone.”
In this one-day class, you’ll learn how to define your topic, identify your target audience(s), craft a brief summary, outline sections and chapters – and more.
Ruth L. Schwartz’ most recent book is Soul on Earth: A Guide to Living and Loving Your Human Life. She has also published five books of poems and a memoir; her many grants and prizes include fellowships from the NEA, the Astraea Foundation, and the Ohio Arts Council. Ruth’s writing appears frequently in The Sun (sometimes under a pseudonym, at the editors’ request) and has been reprinted in the Utne Reader. Ruth teaches in the low-residency M.F.A. program at Ashland University, and works with hypnotherapy and coaching clients worldwide via Skype.
