Do you dream of seeing your work in print but don’t know where to start or how to break into today’s competitive market? Do you want a step-by-step roadmap for how to do just that?
“Getting published took longer and was more difficult than it needed to be because I didn’t understand the challenges, or know any tips for navigating them,” says instructor Lisa Moore Ramée. “But after struggling for many years, I finally learned how to connect with agents and editors, going from hundreds of rejections to hearing that magical ‘Yes!’”
This 3-hour class will provide a nuts-and-bolts guide from finished manuscript to landing an agent, as well as a Q&A about navigating agency requirements and working with editors.
This class will walk you through the following steps:
- Preparing a finished manuscript for representation (e.g., writing a synopsis, selecting comp titles, distilling your work into a “tag-line”)
- Researching literary agents
- Writing a query letter to secure representation
- Selecting the agent who’s a right fit
- Managing your agent relationship
In addition to sharing her experience publishing her own books, Lisa will bring key insights from her background in the publishing industry. After the class ends, she’ll also offer a private query letter critique for each student who’s interested.
Writers will come away from this session with new confidence and the strategies needed to usher their creative work into the world.

Lisa's teaching style is great. She wanted the class to respond to students' goals and she was flexible in making time to answer our (many) questions! She is so encouraging, and she corrected me if I said something like "I could never be at X author's level." I took SO many notes throughout the class.
