You've written stories from your life—perhaps lots of them. You've participated in writing classes already where you've learned about narrative structure, voice, and point of view, as well as how to graciously give and receive helpful feedback.
And you still feel like you need the accountability and support of a writing workshop to keep going.
What's wrong with you?
"Nothing!" says instructor Alison Luterman. "Writing is a conversation with the world and many of us need to know someone is listening in order to push through to a polished draft."
During the six weeks of this class, each participant will have the opportunity to present their work three times for feedback and discussion. Writers may choose whether to use their time to workshop new pieces or for revision.
This remote class is for writers who already have studied the fundamentals of memoir and are interested in deepening, refining and perhaps sending out their work. The instructor will provide suggestions for outside readings and detailed feedback on the writing presented in class. Come prepared to give each other your best reading and listening skills!
About The Writing Salon's Remote Classes
Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, The Writing Salon has moved all onsite classes with an April start date to a remote learning format. You will be able to participate in live class meetings via Zoom videoconference. To attend classes, you'll need a phone or computer and access to the web. You can participate in the class from wherever you'd like, whether on your living room couch or in your home office. Before your class meets, you'll receive an email from The Writing Salon with more information about Zoom and your remote class. If you have any questions about remote learning, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at hello@writingsalons.com.

Alison is exactly what I was looking for in a writing teacher. She made the classroom environment very “safe” for us as writers and readers. She gave us very solid, specific, yet kind, feedback. She encouraged everyone to participate, by being present and interested when others were talking.”
Alison’s teaching style is a delight. She is informal and warm. She guides the group very well and presents a variety of opportunities for expression that certainly helped me grow. I am also touched by the intimacy that the group developed over time…thanks to Alison’s gentle, but firm guidance.
