“Once you’ve written your book, who will deliver it to the readers?” says instructor Lisa Alpine. “Do you trust a publishing house to invest money in these financially strapped times to promote your book? Or do you jump on the self-publishing bandwagon and get it out there yourself – NOW? But if you opt for the latter, who then will design, market and distribute your book?”
Lisa will guide you over the tough terrain of getting your book birthed and onto the bookstore shelves. She will lay out the map of your many options, covering these points and more:
* Why self-publishing is such a great option in the changing face of the publishing industry
* What you need to know to do it yourself or hire-out tasks like interior and cover book design, creating your author’s presence, and other essentials
* How to assess the various author services companies —print-on-demand publishers, offset printers — and services they do and don’t provide, from editing to distribution to customer relations
* How to use your self-published book to attract a publisher
* How to market and publicize your book through social media and other venues
Lisa Alpine has taught writing workshops on a plethora of topics ranging from travel writing to book-birthing. For over a decade she has assisted dozens of authors in book development as well as helped them through the self-publishing process. She is the co-author of Self-Publishing Boot Camp Workbook, which will be available for $29.95 at the workshop. Her anthology, Exotic Life: Dancing Drums, and Tangled Hearts, will be independently published by her company, Dancing Words Press.
