“For many writers, the urge to create stems from a nagging something inside that needs to get outside,” says instructor David Jacobson. “You may not know what that something is until you start moving your fingers on the keyboard or your pen on paper. Often, all it takes to get started is a gentle nudge in the right direction, a prompt that leads to release.”
In this 3-week version of The Writing Salon's Raw Writing series, David will lead you through prompts and exercises that indulge your senses, tickle your intellect, and mine your memory. You'll engage in writing exercises using your favorite pieces of literature, music, and other art forms. Consideration of nature, travel, and adventure will lead you down paths of discovery.
The goals of these Raw Writes: have fun, create material without rules, and generate new ideas and directions for your writing. In addition to dedicated writing time, you’ll briefly explore elements of process and craft, including what to do next with your raw writes. Optional sharing and read-alouds in a supportive environment will round out class time.
At the end of three weeks, you'll have a fuller notebook and emptier insides from pouring them onto paper or into pixels, go-to methods for continuing to generate new material, and a new community of fellow writers to share your creative journey.

David's class got me writing again after months of a dry spell.
David's class involved lots of exercises to just generate a ton of writing. The class is super helpful for unclogging the pipes.
