No matter what you want to work on—a short film, feature, or TV pilot—or how much progress you’ve made on your script, this class will offer an upbeat, playful environment to get you writing and connecting with fellow writers. "Sometimes the movie or series is all there in your head,” says instructor Kuang Lee, “but being in a group with other storytellers gives you that extra push to brainstorm and develop it."

In this 5-week class, we’ll dive into craft lessons and writing exercises delivered side-by-side, so you’re generating new work and developing screenwriting techniques at the same time. Lessons and exercises will include building well-rounded characters out of their deepest fears and desires and developing lively dialogue through introducing conflict and by conveying maximum impact with minimal words

There will also be fun writers room’ style sessions to help you brainstorm and begin drafting. Kuang says, “I love seeing the creativity flow in my students, and the writers’ room is where some of their wildest writing and ideas happen. It’s where they build the confidence to keep up with their writing and the courage to pursue their unique projects.”

While there will be light feedback opportunities during class, the central focus of this class is to make headway on that script you want to begin, develop, or even finish. The goal is to write, write, write, leaving class with progress made on a script, fresh screenwriting tools,  and a game plan to continue writing.
