Become a Member
The Writing Salon runs classes and events year-round so that writers will never have to skip a beat. To take full advantage of our many offerings and to join our dedicated community of writers, sign up for a year-long membership for a fee of $50.
Members receive the following benefits:
- A 7% discount on Writing Salon classes, The Writer’s Welcome Kit, and Jane Underwood Poetry Prize submissions
- Free registration in seasonal meetups
- Lit Lounge, an exclusive members-only email with teacher and student interviews, literary news, writing prompts, and more
To make purchases at the discounted member rate, you must first add a New Membership or Membership Renewal to your shopping cart. Once the membership is in your shopping cart, you’ll receive the member price on all eligible items in the cart. After you purchase your membership, you can log into your Writing Salon account to access member prices.
For members who are accustomed to using our previous membership system, you will no longer need a discount code to receive your membership discount. Just log into your account to get your member discount. Please visit our FAQ page for additional support.

Teach with Us
Come teach with us! We welcome teaching applications from creative writing instructors located here in the Bay Area or elsewhere. Please visit our Teaching Application page to apply. We do not consider applications via email.
As part of your application, we ask for a statement about why you want to teach at The Writing Salon, 1-3 course proposals, and a current CV. We strongly recommend perusing our offerings and class descriptions before sending class proposals.
